POSITION OVERVIEW

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Branch Supervisor will work alongside the Retail Manager, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the branch. This includes ensuring efficiency across the front office and back-office operations of the business, while making sure that all administrative and inventory matters are handled in a timely basis. The Branch Supervisor will also assist the Retail Manager in supervising staff to present a quality product and providing excellent customer service.


 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Efficiently supervise the daily operations of the branch and ensure smooth functioning of the Sales Floor.
  • Process voids and clear cash tills regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Approve and process any relevant discounts.
  • Open and close store to ensure the hours of operation are in compliance with the company’s regulations.
  • Assist in preparing for retail seasons by ensuring that products and promotional material including banners, signs are in stock.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are upheld.

Inventory

  • Have intimate knowledge of products sold and their use.
  • Assist with ensuring that all stock, inclusive of both branch stock and excess stock within the storeroom are accounted for, in a structured, orderly manner for cycle counting purposes.
  • Ensure that shelves are properly stocked at all times.
  • Ensure that products are properly merchandised and accurately priced and labelled.
  • Ensure that products are replenished through the use of the company’s inventory system.
  • Ensure Inventory Clerk handles all documents related to the receiving or distribution of stock, inclusive of expires, damages, returns, warranties, etc.
  • Monitor fast- and slow-moving items and report to the Manager.
  • Identify current and future trends that appeal to consumers and pass on information to managers/buyers.
  • Ensure that all products are handled with care.

People Management

  • Assist the manager in rostering of weekly staff and any recommendations that would improve the customer service through staffing.
  • Assist in training staff in company procedures through punctuality and attendance, dress code and behavior and customer service.
  • Leads, trains and motivates by example.
  • Be able to fairly and appropriately delegate tasks and assess staff performances and handle disciplinary action when necessary.

Customer Service

  • Ensure the highest level of customer service and encourage others to do the same through speech, body language, dress code, willingness to assist and product knowledge.
  • Be fully knowledgeable on branch services such as Event Registry, Gift Vouchers and Promotions.
  • Effectively train employees in selling techniques, including cross-selling and substitutions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff and customers alike.

 

Perform any other duties as assigned by Manager.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Five (5) CXC O’ Level passes, including Math and English.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience supervising employees.
  • Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Overtime may be required.
