Reporting to the Chief Information Officer or designate, the Network & Infrastructure Lead is responsible for the development, administration, maintenance, and technical support of all network and IT infrastructure, using organization and industry standards and well-defined processes. The incumbent will ensure that all desktop, laptop, server, network, and peripheral hardware are well managed, maintained, updated, and tracked to maximize the efficiency and productivity of its users.


The Network & Infrastructure Lead must be a progressive, innovative, solution-oriented, and forward-thinking change partner contributing to the business to establish and maintain a competitive advantage in the industry.


 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Operations

  • Work with the Chief Information Officer to analyze business requirements and make recommendations to implement suitable solutions.
  • Support the Chief Information Officer with strategic planning and the execution of plans.
  • With guidance from the Chief Information Officer, assist with developing IT policies and procedures, evaluating outcomes while identifying gaps and making recommendations for resolution.
  • Work with the Chief Information Officer to champion the utilisation of technology in the organisation’s business operations.
  • Assist with the development and enforcement of technology standards and processes to ensure the efficient running of the network environment, and the minimization of reactive issues.
  • Support the Chief Information Officer with managing relevant IT activity schedules including but not limited to SSL certificate renewal, physical inspections, routing maintenance of point of sale computers, upgrading of firmware, etc.
  • Work with external contractors and vendors related to network and infrastructure technology.
  • Working with the Chief Information Officer, analyze IT support activities, and incident reports and make recommendations to reduce incident rate.
  • Ensure documentation is accurately updated and maintained.
  • Work with end users to ascertain needs and to ensure that facilities meet user or project requirements.
  • Support the Chief Information Officer in recording and maintaining technology inventory to include specification development, procurement and disposal.
  • Assist in designing and generating reports for use by the business, as necessary e.g. reactive tickets by month/user/issue type, ticket close rate, average ticket resolution time.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the organization and adhere to all organizational and professional standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect to consumer/participant, staff, volunteer, fiscal and other organizational matters.
  • Develops and maintains an excellent working relationship with other organizations, ensuring the organization is well received and presented professionally and positively.

Network and Infrastructure

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Server and PC hardware and software, network and related infrastructure.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, systems and key processes.
  • Work with the Chief Information Officer to ensure the integrity and availability of all mission-critical network-level services, and their ongoing upgrade cycles.
  • Work with the Chief Information Officer in implementing and monitoring change control processes for hardware and operating systems including but not limited to works stations, laptops, servers, peripherals, Windows, Windows Server, Microsoft 365.
  • Assist the Chief Information Officer in designing, testing, implementing, and providing training on network and infrastructure related projects.
  • Ensure all physical and virtual computing environments (production, testing, staging) are well maintained including on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Understand technical risk and provide recommendations to the Chief Information Officer to implement right mitigation measures.
  • Ensure all mission-critical systems have associated support plans. E.g. firewall, routing and switching equipment, price checkers, point of sale equipment.
  • Support the Chief Information Officer in preparing, maintaining, and testing a technology disaster recovery plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all hardware, operating system, and productivity software licensing agreements.
  • Provide after-hours support as necessary to Retail Stores.

Training & Development

  • Work with the Chief Information Officer to ensure all end-users are trained on the use of IT solutions and technology including the appropriate company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports for workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings, and trainings attended pertinent to the efficient dispatch of duties.
  • Maintain knowledge on current technology by reading technology periodicals, evaluating new technologies and attending tradeshows, technical seminars and training sessions.

Daily Supervision/People Management

  • Work with support staff to ensure reactive issues are addressed quickly and proactive tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Work with other departments and functional units in order to achieve results.
  • Motivate team members to be results driven and ensure productivity levels.
  • Ensure deadlines are met to achieve efficient execution of various IT initiatives.

 

Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Information Officer or designate.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the technology environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with (but not limited to):
    • Cloud-based infrastructure
    • Microsoft 365 proficient including Azure AD
    • Wireless networks
    • Routing, Switching, Firewalls, VPNs
    • Windows Server Environments
    • Backup and disaster recovery systems
    • Network/workstation peripherals; print servers; firewalls, ticketing software; project and task management software and computer hardware.
  • Experience in planning, designing, and implementing Network and Infrastructure systems.
